their pursuit of impact
Would you like to engage your teams? Put skills to work? Foster governance involvement? Structure your social engagement?
Led by the Volunteer Bureau of Montreal, Work at Heart acts as a bridge between the professional and business communities and Montreal’s community sector.
We help you understand the community’s needs, identify the strengths you can mobilize, and find the right ways to put them into action.
Depending on the approach, contributions may include skills-based volunteering, governance involvement or, in some initiatives, one-time group volunteering opportunities.

What forms of involvement
can we support?
Skills-Based Volunteering
Putting professional expertise to work for a specific need of an organization.
This can take the form of knowledge transfer, specialized support, a defined mandate, or guidance on a particular project or issue.
Governance
Putting your experience, skills, and leadership at the service of the board of directors of a social-mission organization.
The VBM helps people discover opportunities and make connections. Directors are then elected in accordance with each organization’s bylaws and processes.
Group Contribution
Colleagues or members of the same network can also contribute together to an activity or a specific need of an organization.
The VBM can help match groups with existing opportunities in its network, depending on the organizations’ needs and capacity to host them. However, it does not create customized team-building activities.

Depending on your needs, the process may include a social engagement assessment, a policy or annual plan, awareness-building or training, tailored tools, as well as identifying opportunities and connecting with community organizations.

Annual support helps with implementation, adjustments and tracking outcomes for individuals, community organizations, the community and your organization.
Your engagement becomes a lasting practice embedded within your organization.
Showcase
your commitment
Organizations that have completed an eligible process may receive Work at Heart recognition, subject to meeting the established criteria.
A way to make your tangible commitment to the community visible.
Who is it for?
Work at Heart is for businesses, entrepreneurs, self-employed professionals, professional practices and firms, professional orders and associations, business or sector-based networks, student, alumni or retiree communities, as well as other professional communities that wish to put their strengths at the service of the Montreal community.
VBM membership is the gateway to Work at Heart support services, tools and activities.
